Requests Verification Guidlines
"We can never know the true meaning of other people's actions. We can only know their actions as seen through our eyes." Javan
Each request is unique and should be handled accordingly. The degree of verification should be in line with the request and each requestor's situation should be handled with courtesy and friendliness. Please keep in mind that it is very humbling for someone in true need to have to ask for help so please treat the requestor as you would wish to be treated were you in the same situation. First, and foremost, go with your heart, especially when requestors are asking for small items.
Contact the requestor Identify yourself and explain that you would like to obtain further information to verify their request. Ask for their full name, mailing address and phone number. You might want to ask for additional information on the request, such as sizes if the request is for clothing.
If additional verification is necessary utilize one or more of the following suggestions, as appropriate to the situation.
Verify the requestor's mailing address is correct. Ask them if they can scan or fax or mail a copy of a recent bill that has their name and address listed on it, proof of income, birth certificates for children. Explain to them that mailing will delay any assistance they need, and if possible, take the required documents someplace that will either scan them for emailing or faxing to you.
